Stephanie Brown: The adrenaline junkie

Stephanie Brown, who lives at Kenwyn Care Home in Truro, has never been one to shy away from a challenge, even when she was at school. She loves taking part in extreme activities and describes herself as a thrill-seeker who’s always up to mischief.

Now that she is 52 years old and uses a wheelchair for everyday life, she feels even more determined to try her hand at things that people might not expect her to do, like the 490m zip wire she whizzed down at Adrenaline Quarry.

“My wheelchair disappears when I go out to take part in these activities,” Steph says. “I’m the kind of person where if someone says ‘no’, I say ‘yes’.”

Her most recent challenge was something she always fancied doing but had never tried. It’s an activity that would terrify most people but Steph couldn't wait.

On 7th October 2016, Steph performed a skydive at Perranporth Airfield to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

“Macmillan were very good to me when I had cancer so it’s a cause close to my heart. I can’t make cakes, which everyone else does, so I thought a skydive would be good way to raise the money instead!”

She raised an amazing total of £1,250.
